To enter the Arcane University you must join the mages guild and get reccomendations from all the guild hall leaders. For more information about the mages guild visit our page. If you are wondering about whether or not it will be too much work, take my advice and just do the small recommendation quests.

Uses of the Arcane University

The Arcane University can be used for many purposes. First of all it can provide beds for you too sleep and raise your levels in. At the chironasium you can enchant any weapons or armor you may be wanting to put magical attributes on. To learn how to enchant using soul gems please visit our oblivion soul gems page. Or you may want to visit the Praxographical Center, where you can make spells. This place is very useful because you can create spells that will benefit you most. Lastly you may want to visit the mystic archives to find some skill books to raise your levels. So as you can see the work getting the recommendations doesn't even match up against the benefits you gain when you enter the Arcane University.

Other Fellow Mages

Another thing you will witness when you enter the Arcane University is that there are many mages around, imagine that. Well anyway if you become the arch-mage you can take an "apprentice" along with you to help you in your travels. The mages will also help you if you are being attacked by any other creatures.
